THEATRE OF BUILDINGS
November 2018 to April 2019
Contemporary art in unusual buildings
Supported by Arts Council England, Roaming Room presents our new programme, the Theatre of Buildings. In this project we explore the potential of showing contemporary art in unexpected architectural spaces. The 6 month project will feature 4 exhibitions in 4 separate buildings supporting 47 artists working in installation, film, performance and 2 dimensional work.
HAMMERSMITH LIBRARY PROJECT
In this busy public library, 5 contemporary artists present work with books using the material as a starting point to produce magical results. This is the first time we have had the opportunity to install work and produce performances to a captive public audience in a non-art space. The exhibition considers the extraordinary art experiences that grow out of the chemistry between books and art as people encounter fixed works as well as being invited to two performances over two afternoons in January.
Participating artists: Ambrosine Allen, Eilis Kirby and Rowena Hughes.
Performances: Elisabeth S. Clark, 26th January 2019 at 2pm; Bristol Art Library 27th January 2019 at 2pm.
