Roy Petley’s career has spanned over thirty years during which time he has established his reputation as one of the finest figurative artists living today.
These fine watercolours, pastels, oils on paper and sanguines are all executed with Roy’s trademark spontaneity. His traditional and much loved subject matter is given a fresh approach creating lively and often delicate compositions with an emphasis on light, shade and colour.
Often likened to Sargent and Turner, Petley’s work hangs in hundreds of private collections throughout the world, of which the most famous are those of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh and His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales.
Petleys is a unique gallery. Established in 2003 by the artist Roy Petley, the gallery is the only gallery owned by an artist on the prestigious Cork Street. Petleys deal with contemporary fine art and work with international and British artists, both established and emerging. Petleys offer a large variety of paintings and sculptures, ranging from Royal Society of Portrait Painters to the premier solo exhibitions of young artists.
Based on Cork Street, the gallery is minutes walk from the Green Park and Piccadilly Circus tube station.
