The Cadogan Hotel, situated in Knightsbridge, will be exhibiting artwork by M.A. Fine Art Students from Central Saint Martins, Byam Shaw School of Art.
The student’s exhibition has been inspired by The Cadogan Hotel’s 115th Anniversary of Oscar Wilde’s arrest in Room 118 for gross indecency. The students will take ideas from Wilde’s work, life and era to create a memorable and beautiful display.
An esteemed panel of judges, plus the public, will vote for their favourite artwork, with the winning artist gaining an opportunity to exhibit further work at the Kings Road Art Gallery. The public will be able to cast their vote via an interactive website.
Celebrating its centenary this year, Byam Shaw School of Art is part of Central Saint Martins and has almost 400 students at its base in Archway. Alumni of Byam Shaw includes many internationally renowned artists such as Mona Hatoum, Matthew Collings and Yinka Shonibare whose work is currently installed on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square.
The Kings Road Art Gallery partners with The Cadogan Hotel providing new art displays every three-months. Founded in 1998 in London, the gallery has established a global reputation for exhibiting some of the most exciting European and Asian contemporary work on the International stage by both well-established blue chip artists with auction records as well as young emerging artists on the scene.
The Cadogan Hotel is quintessentially a British boutique hotel, located opposite the beautiful Cadogan Gardens. The art will be displayed in the stunning Drawing Room, Cadogan Bar, Langtry’s restaurant and the two banqueting suites of Salon Oscar and Lillie.
