Samuel Beckett - Paul Joyce

Internationally renowned photographer Paul Joyce has captured a range of inspirational figures including Samuel Beckett, Henry Moore, Eartha Kitt and Ansel Adams during his illustrious career. Each image, taken in the sitters natural environment, demonstrates Joyce’s ability to put his subject at absolute ease. This exclusive retrospective demonstrates the inspiration of the man behind the camera as much as that of the figures he captured.

UNSEEN PORTRAITS – PHOTOGRAPHS BY PAUL JOYCE

Proud Chelsea presents Unseen Portraits: 1967-2009, a photographic cross section of images of the today’s foremost filmmakers, writers and artists as seen through the lens of much respected photographer, painter and documentarian Paul Joyce.

A career spanning over three decades has seen Joyce publish two books in collaboration with artist David Hockney, release acclaimed documentaries on the likes of Stanley Kubrick, Marlon Brando and Peter Sellers, induct a total of 52 portraits into the National Portrait Gallery’s Permanent Collection and sell paint and photographic works to such luminaries as Tom Stoppard, Quentin Tarantino, Harold Pinter and Bryan Adams.

An absolute must-see and specially selected from Joyce’s archive for Proud Galleries, this one off exhibition will exhibit many previously unseen photographic works dating from the late ‘60s through to the present day.
